About dpdprules.org

An independent, free reference for India's Digital Personal Data Protection framework, built on one rule: every legal claim traces to an exact official source.

What this site is

dpdprules.org publishes the DPDP Act 2023 and the DPDP Rules 2025 with the official Gazette text of every section, rule and Schedule, tracks commencement as it actually unfolds, and turns the obligations into deterministic tools: an applicability checker, a company compliance plan, a breach response workflow, a privacy notice generator and more. Everything is free, with no signup and no paywall.

How the content is held to account

Every material legal claim carries a reference to a primary official source, such as the Gazette of India, India Code or MeitY, together with a label that says what kind of statement it is: an official requirement, a plain English explanation, an interpretation that requires judgment, or a practical recommendation. Computed future dates are always labelled interpretation until officially confirmed. Each page shows when its sources were last verified, and corrections are noted so earlier readers can see what changed. The full standard is on the methodology page.

What this site is not

This site provides legal information, not legal advice, and no tool here ever concludes that an organisation is compliant. dpdprules.org is independent: it is not affiliated with the Government of India, MeitY or the Data Protection Board of India. The text of the Act and the Rules is in the public domain; our structure, explanations and tools are our own work.

Who runs it

Abhijeet Singh is the editor of dpdprules.org and writes and maintains its content. Every article names its author and reviewer, carries published and last reviewed dates, and goes through a source verification pass against the primary official documents before it publishes. The site stores nothing about you: tools run entirely in your browser, and there are no third party trackers.
